Mark Twain (1835–1910) was one of the most celebrated American writers, humorists, and lecturers. Born as Samuel Langhorne Clemens in Florida, Missouri, he grew up along the Mississippi River, which later became the backdrop for many of his famous works. Twain is best known for his sharp wit, realistic storytelling, and deep understanding of human nature. His writing often combined humor with social criticism, making his works both entertaining and thought-provoking. Among his most famous books are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the latter often regarded as one of the greatest novels in American literature.
