Ruud Van Middelaar

Ruud van Middelaar is an education innovator and expert who began his journey through vocational technical studies before transitioning into teaching and educational development. In 2002, he founded an alternative school for his daughter, centered on natural growth and intrinsic curiosity, and became a co-founder of one of the Netherlands’ first democratic schools. His work focuses on nurturing self-directed, communicative individuals. Alongside organizational scientist Marloes Vis van Heemst, he co-authored Een Oase voor Ontwikkeling (An Oasis for Development), marking his debut as an author.
