It is such a good, light read. Takes you back to your childhood. I finished it in one sitting. You will love it, and you can read it to your kids as well. It is very well written. 🌻

Excellent story book

I just finished reading Paandaan.. i kept it for my Sunday read and I can’t tell you how much I loved it. It’s so beautifully written, and the way Mujtaba portrayed women is incredibly relatable, beyond religion or background. I’ve already handed it to my mum, and I’m going to be gifting it to my friends too. Mujtaba, You’ve done a fantastic job, and I’m genuinely so proud of you.

यह कहानी सिर्फ़ बी ( मुमताज़ बेगम ) की ही नहीं बल्कि सही मायनों में मेहराज की है, उसके उतावलेपन की , उसकी जिज्ञासा की , उसकी शरारतों की भी है , जिसमें उसके साथी वो बनते हैं जो ना तो उसके हम उम्र हैं और ना ही हैसियत में उसके बराबर हैं।बौना ( फ़हीम ) बस क़द में उसके बराबर होने के कारण ही उसका साथी बना वैसे वह मेहराज़ से लगभग दस साल बड़ा था, ऐसे ही फ़रीदन भी उम्र में छोटे मियाँ से बड़ी तो थी पर उसकी शैतानियों में पूरी हिस्सेदार , कभी कोई गड़बड़ हो भी जाती तो उसको वही संभालती थी।बशारत और सकीना का दुःख आज आम सी बात है, पर इसकी चर्चा समाज में नहीं की जाती क्यूँकि समाज पुरुष प्रधान है।नसीम वो बेटी है जो अपने उसूलों और परिवार के लिए अपनी ख़ुशी और हँसी किसी तिज़ोरी में बंद करके बैठी है।मेहराज़ की नुमाइश देखने की चाहत कहानी में रोचक मोड़ लेती है।मुज्तबा जी की कहानी कहने की कला इतनी सहज़ है कि किताब हाथ से छूटती नहीं है और एक ही बार में आप इसे पढ़ सकते हैं।

इसे ज़रूर पढ़ें। दावे के साथ कह सकता हूं कि आपकी सांस बंधी रहेगी और मन लगा रहेगा।बहुत ही सुंदर सरल और सच्ची लिखाई है इस पुस्तक में। बहुत समय बाद कुछ ऐसा पढ़ा जो लगा कि बिल्कुल मेरे आसपास ही हो रहा है। बहुत समय बाद इतना रोना भी आया और पता चला कितनी ज़रूरत थी इन आंसुओं के बहने की। शुक्रिया मुजतबा भाई इस किताब को लिखने के लिए।इसे ज़रूर पढ़ें। दावे के साथ कह सकता हूं कि आपकी सांस बंधी रहेगी और मन लगा रहेगा।

This is a sincere attempt to acknowledge and honour these everyday heroes we call our mothers, sisters and wives.

I loved how evocatively the author of this book Mr. Mujtaba Khan has portrayed the protagonist Mumtaz Begum, whose life reflects the struggles and dignity of many women who keep love, honour, and family intact through hardship. The characters feel real and deeply human, and the writing immerses you fully in their everyday joys and battles. The metaphor of the “paandaan” as memory, authority, and responsibility is incredibly poignant.This book is one of the best Hindi literary pieces which I have read and I LOVED IT...

This book is amazing,I keep reading it again and again I'm not getting bored at all,I must say The author mujtaba khan has taken us back to the golden era,of our childhood, it's very well written and explained. I have started gifting this book to my friends to feel the experience of our childhood again. We would want more such stories from this Author. Do read it atleast once.

पानदान पढ़ने का अनुभव बेहद ख़ुशनुमा रहा और अभी तलक पानदान के किरदारों की मासूमियत और इंसानियत का स्वाद मेरे ज़ेहन में गुलूकंद की मिठास की तरह घुल रहा है। बहुत ही उम्दा लहजा कहानी पिरोने का, आसान और पाक-साफ़ भाषा का इस्तेमाल पढ़ने की रूचि को हर पल बरक़रार रखता है। किस्सागोई और किरदारों के बीच वार्तालाप रोज़मर्रा के जीवन की बातचीत को दर्शाते हैं जो पढ़ते हुए अपना सा लगता है कि मैं भी इस परिवेश, परिवार, मौहल्ले का एक अहम हिस्सा हूँ। मेहराज का बचपन और उसकी जिझासा मुझे मेरे बचपन की यादों से मेल कराती है, नानी के घर संजोई हुई हर याद से रूबरु कराता है अपना ख़ुद का बचपन। आसान भाषा और सरल भाव से लिखी हुई कहानी जो कहानीकार ने कई रूढ़िवादी विचार और गहरे इंसानी रिश्तों को बहुत ही सटीक तरह से पेश किया है। नानी अम्मी से परिचित होने के बाद लगता है जैसे किताब के पूरे होने पर उन्होंने मुझे भी अपना आशीर्वाद और मेरे सिर पर अपनी दुआ का हाथ फेर दिया हो। पानदान की महक और ख़ुमार से लबरेज़ हूँ मैं अभी ~

अक्सर घर के किसी कोने में रखी बेतरतीब चीज़ें ही हमारे भीतर की सबसे गहरी यादों का दरवाज़ा खोल देती हैं । यह किताब अपने आप में एक स्मृति–पात्र की तरह है । इस किताब को पढ़ना बस पढ़ लेना ही नहीं, “पानदान” के बहाने उस ज़माने के परिवेश की तरफ़ लौटना भी है ।

I picked up this book and it turned out to be a surprisingly delightful read. The story and characters kept me engaged throughout, and the writing is genuinely beautiful. Overall, it’s definitely worth reading.
